THE PRE-PROPOSAL CHECKLIST

You have found your soulmate and want to pop the question – Congratulations! Even if you are just starting to consider the idea of proposing, it’s important to spend some time thinking about how you want to do it and what all you need to get the job done.

No doubt, however you propose, it will be beautiful but if you are thinking to go all traditional with a pretty ring and a heartfelt speech, you will have to keep some things in mind.

Here is a checklist to help you navigate months before you propose.

1. Make Sure You Both Are Ready

It is essential that you both have engaged in a conversation relating to the future and that you want to spend life together. Sometimes, one partner is not yet ready and might need more time to become sure. So do not rush into the proposal before knowing whether the other person is ready or not. It is important that both people are ready to make the commitment. Also, it is better to wait rather than pulling the trigger and ending up disappointed.

2. Choose The Ring

Once you are sure that both people are happy and willing to enter into the marriage, take the time to find the perfect ring for her. Selecting a ring might not be as seamless as you have imagined and can take up to several weeks. Do a bit of digging into her choice, talk to her family and friends to find out what she has her eye on, or tease her by taking into a jewellery shop. The ring is going to be on her finger for the rest of life after the wedding proposal, so make sure it is something that she really adores.

3. Give Her Family A Thumbs Up

If your better half is traditional, she may want you to ask for her parents for permission or blessings before you pop the question. If this is something that would mean a lot to her, why not go the extra mile and do so? Involving the family is a strong start to any relationship and shows that you value her family as much as you value her.

4. Plan the Proposal

Since you know your significant other the best, you probably already have an idea of what her dream proposal would be. And trust us when we say that the proposal destination is as important as wedding destination to women. You must know if she prefers something small and intimate or would prefer something more public. Don’t rush into your plans and make sure she is comfortable in whatever you do.

5. Get a photographer

Be it an experienced photographer or your best friend with a smartphone, you need a photographer who will capture your beautiful moment which you both can look back on in the upcoming years. Lastly, do not forget to plan for a party after she says yes!

A wedding proposal is a very special moment. Try your best to make it one of the most special moments for her life. Brainstorm on some ideas on how you want to propose and what you want to say. Do not panic if things do not go according to plan as even if everything falls apart (which it won’t), the most important part is that you are getting engaged to the love of your life.
