HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING STATIONERY

There’s so much to think about when choosing your wedding stationery.

Whatever your theme may be, color or plain, traditional or exotic, civil or religious, the most important thing to do is keep an open mind.

Your wedding invitation sets the theme and therefore, it should be able to invoke a feeling of anticipation from your invitees.

Even though making something personal seems like the best idea, having tips to guide you is always an added advantage.

Here are some of the key things to consider when choosing your wedding stationery.

1. Set a Defined Budget

First of all, determine how much of your wedding budget should be allocated to stationery.

You don’t want to spend so much on “save the dates” that the occasion itself pales in comparison.

Ask around for possible designs and options, but try as much as possible to remain realistic.

Weddings are magical but even wedding planners can’t pull rabbits out of hats.

2. Choose the Style

After determining what your stationery budget is going to be, the next step is to choose a style.

Your invitations should be able to portray something about the personalities of the bride and groom as well as give a notion of the wedding theme itself.

Try to be flexible and do not remain fixated on what you had in mind.

Feel free to choose from multiple samples if these bring out more of the wedding theme than what you had imagined.

3. Determine What and When to Order

Once the design has been determined and the numbers priced, you should consider what to order and when to order to maintain uniformity in the themes of any other items you may need to get (such as thank you cards, envelopes, menu and table numbers).

It is equally important to know if your invitees will be arriving as couples, a family or individuals and choosing the best type of invitation to suit the respective parties.

4. Decide on Your Invitation Wording

Don’t lose sight of the fact that your wedding invitation has a job to do.

Your guests need to know exactly when and where to go, so make sure the text is clear, legible and has all the important details on it.

You may equally have to give some thought to family circumstances and relationships. This may have a bearing on what needs to be written on your invites.

The font to be used is just as important. Engravings can create a striking and alluring appearance, but they may adversely act as overcompensations.

Your suppliers should be able to help you with this if you have any concerns or questions.

5. Take some time to proofread your invites

It is always worthwhile spending time proofreading your invites and having a friend take a look is even better.

This gives you extra assurance about any mistakes in the wording which you could have missed as well as a different perspective.

Apart from the details that are directly involved with the intricacies of the invites themselves, it is important to plan ahead of time.

You will want to consider guests living quite far from you and send out their invites relatively earlier. Give enough time for your invites to plan for this occasion.
