Sweating in Your Wedding Dress? No Thanks. The Best Time to Marry in Spain.

Let’s address the elephant in the room. Or rather, the sun in the sky.

You want a wedding in Spain because of the weather. You want that glorious Mediterranean sun. You want to sip Cava outside without freezing your toes off.

But here is the rookie mistake: Assuming that “Summer” is the only option.

If you get married in Seville in August at 4 PM, you won’t have a wedding. You will have a collective heatstroke event. Your makeup will melt faster than an ice cube in a sauna, and your guests will hate you.

Spain has amazing weather, but you have to know when to book. Here is the no-nonsense guide to picking a date.

1. The “Danger Zone”: July & August

Listen, we love summer. But the Spanish summer is no joke. If you are envisioning a lunch ceremony in the direct sun… don’t. Just don’t.

How to survive it: If you must marry in July or August (because of school holidays, we get it), you have to go “Spanish style.”

  • Start late. And I mean late. Ceremony at 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM.

  • Sunset is your best friend. The light is magical, the air cools down, and the party goes until 4 AM.

  • Shade is mandatory. If your venue doesn’t have shade, we will build it.

The verdict: Doable, but only if you like to party at night (which, let’s be honest, is the best way to party).

2. The “Sweet Spot”: September & October

This is the secret sauce. This is the “Velvet Season.” While your friends in Canada are already putting on sweaters, we are still wearing sunglasses in Barcelona.

Why it rocks:

  • The Temperature: It’s warm but not “I’m dying” warm.

  • The Light: The sun is lower, giving you that soft, golden cinematic look for photos.

  • The Vibe: The summer rush is over. The beaches are calmer. It feels exclusive.

The verdict: The real deal. If you can choose September or October, do it. You’ll thank me later.

3. The “Spring Gamble”: May & June

Everything is green. Flowers are exploding everywhere. It’s undeniably beautiful. But, let’s be real—May can be a bit moody. You might get a perfect 75°F (24°C) day, or you might get a quick shower.

It’s just water. You won’t dissolve. Plus, that’s why we always—ALWAYS—have a Plan B. (Note: A “Plan B” in Spain isn’t a sad basement; it’s usually a gorgeous indoor hall with stone arches. So, no drama).

4. The “Smart Money”: Winter Weddings

Here is a wild idea. Get married in November or February. “Are you crazy?” Nope. The Mediterranean coast has mild winters. While New York is covered in slush, we often have crisp, sunny days with blue skies.

The Perk: You get the absolute best prices on venues and vendors. You get the castle all to yourself without fighting for dates. It’s cozy, it’s chic, and it’s very smart financially.

So, When Should You Book?

Forget the calendar you use at home.

  • Want a beach party? Late June or September.

  • Want a garden soiree? October is king.

  • Want to save money? Winter is coming (and it’s lovely).

Don’t guess. Ask the locals. At Spain4Weddings, we know exactly which way the wind blows (literally). We will help you pick the date where you look hot, but you don’t feel hot.
